A few days ago our always-honest commander-in-chief told CBS News that it was through news reports that he first learned of Hillary Clinton using a private server and non-government e-mail account while she served as secretary of state. I’d love nothing more than to accuse Obama of incompetence here. Lord knows he’s certainly demonstrated a horrifyingly high level ineptitude since taking office. He’s made statements that have, quite honestly, caused many of us to question the poor man’s sanity and ability to comprehend rational thought. After all, this is the same guy who called ISIS “a jayvee team.” The same guy who admitted on national television that he had no strategy for defeating ISIS. The same guy who said Americans are better off now than before he became president. The same guy who unconstitutionally sabotaged the American healthcare system, destroying it in the process.
I could go on and on.
But, Obama’s comments to CBS are not an example of incompetency. They’re an example of his dishonesty.
Last week Obama Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett said she never had any sort of e-mail correspondence with Hillary and neither had Obama. Then Press Secretary Josh Earnest, in a pathetic attempt to clarify, made a statement saying that the president simply “didn’t recall” and that Obama was unaware of Hillary’s use of a private e-mail address and a private server.
What a load of crap.
Are we really to believe that Obama learns about every major political scandal from national news outlets? Seriously? This is the same excuse he used for the Benghazi attacks, the discovery that veterans died waiting for treatment because of falsified documents at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the IRS’s targeting of conservative nonprofit organizations, the Gruber controversy, Fast & Furious and even the Secret Service scandal.
This is getting really old, Mr. President. Surely, you can be a little more creative and less repetitive with your excuses.
Anyway, that’s somewhat beside the point. The real issue here is that Obama did know about Hillary’s private e-mail usage. Josh Earnest admitted as much when he just recently said: “The president — I think as many people expected — did, over the course of his first several years in office, trade e-mails with the secretary of state. But the number wasn’t large.”
So, now we’re supposed to believe that the president didn’t exchange enough e-mails with Hillary to notice that all of her messages were being sent from a private, non-government address. How dumb does this administration think we are? Our country has never been more spied on and electronically monitored in its history. They know everything. And we’re to believe that they didn’t have a clue that their own secretary of state was conducting official government business, including sending national security-sensitive information, from a private e-mail account, with all content stored on a private server? Give me a break!
During that interview with CBS, Bill Plante questioned Obama about his administration’s supposed transparency and how the Clinton e-mail controversy could possibly reconcile with such a claim. Obama replied, “Well…I-I-I…uh…I-I-I think the fact that she’s going to be putting ‘em forward, uh, will allow us to make sure that, uh, people have the information that they need.”
I see no reason why this should appease the situation, as Hillary has already deleted thousands of e-mails. This whole fiasco is just the latest example of the Obama administration's lack of transparency. Moreover, it’s an example of their blatant defiance of the law and their affinity for intentional deceptions and cover-ups. These people just can’t seem to tell the truth about anything.
In a broader sense, this is Liberalism at its finest, folks. This is the way of the progressive Left in this country. This is what America voted for when they put Obama in office. Liberalism itself is a lie. And it breeds more lies. It infects our political system like a toxic virus, polluting the environment and corrupting even the most ethical and principled men and women. You see, progressives like Obama and Hillary have to lie. Otherwise, they would never accomplish anything on their radical agendas. Think about it. Obamacare would never have even come close to passing through the House and Senate had our president and other sponsors been honest about its content. Twenty-three times Obama said, ”If you like your plan, you can keep your plan. If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.” And how many times were we told that our insurance premiums would go down —saving some families $2,500 per year? Those were all lies from the beginning. People lost their plans, they were forced to change doctors and their co-pays and premiums skyrocketed.
It’s absolutely mind-boggling that so many Americans continue to fall for this sort of deceitful rhetoric. Honestly, there’s got to be some sort of deeper psychological complexity at work here. I honestly can’t even pretend to understand it. My only guess is that Americans, many of who are embarrassingly naive and uninformed, want to believe in compassion, empathy and good intentions. Unfortunately, that’s the belief that Liberalism preys upon. The radical liberal Left know that if they can convince enough people that they have their best interests at heart, then the majority will fall for it every time. They’ll support policies and programs that will end up ripping the country to shreds, all under the belief that it’s for the best and that things will work out in the end.
It’s ironic, really. Even when the programs fail, even when scandals erupt, even when lies and corruption are exposed, so many people still foolishly cling to a timeless hope that one day, whether its tomorrow or 100 years from now, Washington will fix everything — one day, they’ll get it right.
I wish I could believe that. I really do. But right now, every major political move this administration has made, every word this president has uttered, has been under the liberal ideological banner of deceit, fraud, misdirection, criminality, treachery and shameless hypocrisy. There’s no transparency. There’s no accountability. There’s no veracity.
We are being ruled by an administration that believes itself to be above the law. An administration that no longer answers to you or to the Constitution. They answer to no one. That should concern you. It should frighten you. And more than anything, it should, at the very least, cause you to wonder what else they're hiding behind that brick wall of so-called transparency.
I wonder if we'll ever know. I'm certainly not holding my breath.
