The last couple of months haven’t been so great for the Left. If you’re keeping tabs at home, they’ve rioted in the streets, screamed in people’s faces, chased Republican politicians out of restaurants, and tweeted death threats to a conservative Supreme Court nominee. In short, they’ve cast themselves as nothing more than a maniacal mob of violent thugs hellbent on destroying whatever or whoever they have to in order to accomplish their political and ideological goals. And if you get in their way, they’ll destroy you too.
Ironically, there was a time when a lot of Americans — including many prominent conservatives and Republican voters — were still unsettled about Donald Trump. Perhaps you remember. I certainly do. In fact, I was one of those conservatives. Just dig through my archives, particularly back in 2015, and you’ll find a few columns in which I passionately criticized then-candidate Trump for a wide range of things, from character defects to political rhetoric to immorality to his habit of consistently flip-flopping on key issues. And if we’re all being honest, there are still plenty of things to criticize the president for. (His Twitter account alone could provide material for several days.)
But, if progressive Democrats and leftists were wise, they would spend their time addressing the political reasons that they oppose people like Donald Trump and Brett Kavanaugh. They would be running well-written TV ads that argue against Trump’s immigration policies or Kavanaugh’s stance on abortion. They would be making speeches explaining why they oppose specific policies and how they would implement better and more suitable change for the average American citizen. They would be trying to appeal to ordinary voters, especially those who are are sick to their stomach of all the drama in Washington on both sides of the aisle.
This is not what Democrats have chosen to do. They have actually taken the reverse approach.
Instead, the Leftist culture has become a disgusting cesspool where folks like rapper T.I. can release a video of a Melania Trump look-a-like stripping in the Oval Office in the desperate hopes that it will receive thunderous applause. Democrats didn’t even pause to consider the moral or political ramifications of such filth. They never do. In fact, most of them stood back and laughed in approval. Yes, this is the same Party we’re told cares about women. The same Party that wants to “protect” and “empower” women.
Yeah. Right. Nothing says “empowerment of women” better than “please strip naked in my music video so that I can mock the First Lady of the United States.”
Anyway, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that this sort of repugnant behavior is quite unappealing to most American voters who still have a soul and a conscience, whether they choose to align themselves with the Democrats, Republicans or something in between. Maybe that’s why Republicans continue to steadily rise in the polls. No one wants to be associated with a political movement that has transmorphed into the Party of unhinged violence, lawlessness, rioting, anarchy, racism, sexism, depravity, and lunacy. If you’ve reached the point where you can’t even express your agenda without resorting to chaos; or calling for disorder; or producing a raunchy music video that degrades women, then you’re just not worth listening to at all. You’ve become nothing more than a joke.
Speaking of jokes, the Left will continue to destroy itself from within as long as Democrats like Senator Fauxcahontas (formerly the white woman known as Elizabeth Warren) continue to smear the Party’s own public relations image with absurd claims that are almost beyond parody. It will soon become impossible to take these people seriously at all. And as we near that point, the Party will inevitably collapse, unless, of course, it chooses to change course. But, for right now, they are simply too self-obsessed to be effective.
