Grab a copy of this month's issue of Mobile Bay magazine and check out my feature on Liquid Freeze, the first liquid nitrogen ice cream shop on the Alabama coast! Owners James and Cristol Thompson are excited to be bringing the unique form of this timeless dessert to residents of Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and anyone willing to sample what is arguably the best ice cream this side of the Mississippi.
Special thanks to James and Cristol for allowing me to interview them and for feeding my sister Mary and I over 10 different flavors of ice cream and other assorted desserts. This is obviously the toughest assignment I have ever been given as a journalist (which is why I took my sister with me for emotional support.)
You can find Mobile Bay magazine at over 130 local retail outlets and distributors throughout Mobile and Baldwin counties. (Here's a few of them.) If you don't live in or around Mobile, check out our digital copy online by clicking here.
You can also find Mobile Bay magazine online by visiting their official website here: mobilebaymag.com and by following them on Facebook and on Twitter.
ABOVE At Liquid Freeze, customers are allowed to select their favorite toppings, such as fresh berries, to create their own concoctions and then watch as their order is hit with a vaporous blast of liquid nitrogen, freezing it in seconds.
