There’s a video making rounds on social media showing Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren blasting Republicans for their voting to defund Planned Butcherhood, er, I mean, Planned Parenthood. The video is actually from early August, but a lot of liberal folks who support the destruction of innocent human life — under the pathetic guise of “women’s healthcare” — are using it to argue that conservatives are basically waging an all out war on women by recently voting to suspend (“freeze”) Planned Parenthood’s funds while an investigation is conducted. These embarrassingly uninformed people are convinced that Warren’s utterly delusional rant somehow proves that Republicans in Congress, and really conservatives in general, are sexist, misogynistic jerks hellbent on denying women access to healthcare and so-called pregnancy services. You know, because Planned Parenthood provides all this great, amazing stuff.
Huzzah! What a relief! All this time I’ve been thinking Planned Parenthood was a blood-soaked, infanticidal chop-shop performing over 300,000 abortions per year and selling the body parts of dead children solely for profit. Thank you, Mrs. Warren! I guess now we can revert back to ignoring this wonderful women’s health organization’s ongoing holocaustic slaughter of babies and their tyrannical pressuring of young women to have abortions. Whew! That’s a load off my mind.
Or maybe it isn’t.
Despite what all the liberal politicians and social media trolls claim, Planned Parenthood does not care about women. At all. Ever. If they did, they wouldn’t be in the abortion business in the first place. But, we’ll get to that in a minute. Right now, I think it’s important to understand the mentality behind Warren’s statement here and behind progressivism’s defense of Planned Parenthood and abortion in general. There are so many mini-lies embedded within their “We care about women” lie that it’s almost laughable. Indeed, if it weren’t all so horrifyingly morbid, it would be a humorous attempt at deception and distortion. Let’s take a look, shall we?
LIE #1: “I simply cannot believe that in the year 2015, the United States Senate would be spending its time trying to defund women’s healthcare centers.”
TRUTH: Republicans are not trying to defund women’s healthcare centers. They are trying to defund Planned Parenthood. Only Planned Parenthood. Duh.
LIE #2: “Republicans have had a plan for years to strip away women’s rights to make choices over our own bodies…The Republican vote to defund Planned Parenthood is just one more piece of a deliberate, methodical, orchestrated, right-wing attack on women’s rights.”
TRUTH: Defunding Planned Parenthood is about protecting the rights and saving the lives of unborn and born children.
LIE #3: “Three percent of patients visit Planned Parenthood for a safe and legal abortion with a doctor who will show compassion and care for a woman who is making one of the most difficult decisions of her entire life.”
TRUTH: Planned Parenthood performs about 330,000 abortions per year (more thanthe population of St. Louis, Missouri), which is roughly 30 percent of all abortions in the United States. According to Planned Parenthood’s own 2013-2014 annual report, it provides nearly as many abortions as it does PAP tests (380,000.) They do provide a few more breast-care services, but not by much: 490,000. Planned Parenthood’s three-percent lie is derived from their considering abortion to be just another healthcare service like its less consequential ones. Essentially, they consider abortion to be no different than a cancer screening. (Hint: the difference is one destroys a human life, the other does not) — even though you can visit your local drugstore and buy a box of two pregnancy tests for less than ten bucks.
Furthermore, their math is horrifically flawed here. Planned Parenthood would argue that a woman who enters one of their facilities for a pregnancy test, STD test and a few contraceptives has received four services with only 25 percent of them being abortion or abortion-related. This would be like a doctor saying, “Well I performed an abortion, but I also gave the woman some pain medication, so only half of my services here were abortion.” It would be like saying that the NFL handed out ten times the amount of Gatorade on the sidelines as the amount of football players who drank the Gatorade, so they must really be in the sports drink business.
Where is the "compassion and care" for the baby whose life is about to end?
Also, to be clear, just because something is “safe and legal” does not mean that it is moral.
LIE #4: “The government doesn’t fund abortions. Period.”
TRUTH: The governmentfunds Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood performs abortions. The government funds abortions. The end.
LIE #5: “The vote today to defund Planned Parenthood is not a vote to defund abortion. It’s a vote to defund cancer screenings and birth control and basic healthcare for millions of women.”
TRUTH: Planned Parenthood wants its patients to utilize its other health services so that it can continue to fund its abortion services, as if it is impossible to separate the two. This is nonsensical. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provide low-cost and often free cervical cancer screenings and they don’t abort babies. State health departments also provide free cancer screenings and don’t abort babies. And community health centers provide a wide range of health and pregnancy services and, guess what, they don’t abort babies.
I don’t see any Republicans trying to defund The CDC, state health departments, local hospitals or local health centers. You know why? Because those places don’t kill babies. So, yes, this is about defunding abortion. It is not about defunding women’s healthcare. I almost can’t even believe I am having to explain this.
LIE #6: “Why do so many people use Planned Parenthood? Because they’re nonprofit and they’re open. More than half of Planned Parenthood centers are located in areas without ready access to healthcare.”
TRUTH: Planned Parenthood is a for-profit organization that makes money by selling abortions to women. Also, in nearly every instance, the vast majority of Planned Parenthood facilities are not located in undeserved areas without access to healthcare. In fact, the health clinics outnumber the abortion clinics. Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, who said in a recent interview that Lancaster, Pennsylvania was an “undeserved” area, failed to mention that there are ten public health facilities in Lancaster. Another example: In Tennessee there are four Planned Parenthood clinics that compete with 267 other federally qualified health centers that do not perform abortions. All of these other various health centers are more than capable of providing breast exams, cancer screenings, STD screenings and PAP tests.
Well, that was fun. Moving on now.
Mrs. Warren’s video wasn’t the only thing shared online by pro-choicers. On Twitter, the #ShoutYourAbortion hashtag went viral and started trending among the top ranking hashtags on the popular social networking site. Thousands of women joined in to celebrate and explain why they decided to terminate the life of their unborn children and how this decision has supposedly made their lives better. This is truly nauseating:
Anyway, I think it’s safe to say that Planned Parenthood really couldn’t care less about women. They’re in the abortion business to make money — even by the admission of former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson, who says:
My director told us that our goal was to create every phone call and every client visit, to turn that into a revenue-generating visit. If a woman comes in and she’s pregnant, the only way we can do that is by selling her an abortion because we don’t do prenatal care. Planned Parenthood does not provide prenatal care at any of their clinics across the country. They don’t do adoption services…the only way we can make money is to sell a woman an abortion. And we were given the directive to sell abortions…The whole premise is to get women on a contraceptive method that will eventually fail them. We know that 54 percent of women having abortions were using a contraceptive at the time they got pregnant. The whole purpose is to put them on a contraceptive method that will fail them so that we can make them abortion patients…Over 90 percent of pregnant women who walk into Planned Parenthood will have an abortion.”
In other words, Planned Parenthood doesn’t see “a woman who’s making a difficult decision,” they see dollar signs. They see cash. They see a product and a service. They see a business transaction. That fact that this business transaction will end a human life is beside the point for them. You know, the rich irony here is that the same progressives, liberals and feminists who condemn men for objectifying women are the same ones defending an organization that views and treats women like commodities. For Planned Parenthood, pregnant women and unborn children are about as valuable as the boxes of cereal on your supermarket’s shelves.
Johnson goes on to say that Planned Parenthood employees are given “abortion quotas” and are told to give patients the least-effective birth control methods so that the likelihood of, say, a 14-year old girl getting pregnant and returning for an abortion, is higher. Also, there have been plenty of cases of women who received ineffective birth control from Planned Parenthood and were literally told to continue taking pill after pill after pill until their baby had died.
This is pure insanity, folks. And it flies in the face of the liberalized defense of these baby killers.
Planned Parenthood doesn’t care about truth.
Planned Parenthood doesn’t care about children.
Planend Parenthood doesn’t care about women.
