A few days ago, I published a post about the moral and political decline of America that’s unfolding before our very eyes like some sort of poorly-written apocalyptic thriller. While the majority of the comments on that piece were positive — many of you agreed with my analysis — I did receive the usual blowback and harsh criticism via e-mail and face-to-face conversations. One reader in particular suggested that if I “hate America so much” I should “just leave and never come back.” (A very profound and highly-educated rebuttal.)
Another chimed in with a rather brazen message to my Twitter account: “Your blog post reeks of unpatriotic negativity. Instead of bashing America, why not mention all the great things about this country? You just end up coming across as an asshole.”
You know, I really wish that I could say something positive about a country that’s teetering on complete chaos and anarchy and a government that continues to slide further into the putrid cesspool of progressivism.
A government that stands by as over a million or more babies are mercilessly slaughtered in cold blood every year. (While the body parts of these dead infants have apparently been sold for profit.)
A government that has officially destroyed the institution of marriage while simultaneously approving, glorifying and legalizing nearly every other form sexual perversion.
A government that allows thousands of illegal immigrants to enter our country, thereby opening the door for murders like this one.
A country that elects leaders who have flushed our God-given freedoms and religious liberties down the toilet.
See? There I go listing negativities again. I guess I’m just tired of the uneducated ignorance and the childish naivety so many Americans seem to exhibit these days. It’s like they’re oblivious to the fact that our nation is practically falling apart in every way imaginable. Our forefathers are rolling in their graves, but so many people want us to think everything is hunky-dory. Sorry, but I’m just not going to blindly hop on that bandwagon. Things are getting worse every day and this ‘land of the free and home of the brave’ is rapidly becoming a socialistic hellhole that couldn’t care less about freedom or bravery.
Speaking of socialism, I’m sure you’ve heard about that senile 74-year-old dotard and self-professed socialist Bernie Sanders, who apparently believes America will function best under tyrannical tenets like shared wealth, government control of social classes and several other ideological forms of oppression. The fact that a guy like this is running for president of the United States is terrifying, but almost as equally terrifying is that he actually has support and might even overtake Hillary Clinton’s popularity in the Democratic Party. (Although he’s so far left of Hillary and Obama that he’s now had to declare himself an Independent.)
According to a recent poll out of Gallup:
“As the 2016 presidential election field takes shape, more than nine in 10 Americans say they would vote for a qualified presidential candidate who is Catholic, a woman, black, Hispanic or Jewish. Less than half of Americans would vote for a candidate who is a socialist.”
What’s utterly astonishing about this poll is that 47 percent of the Americans polled said that they would vote for a socialist president. That number strikes me as awfully high. Furthermore:
“At least two-thirds of adults younger than 30 say they are willing to vote for a candidate with any of the characteristics included in the survey.”
One of those “characteristics” includes being a socialist. That’s stunning. Imagine what these percentages will be in ten to 20 years. Of course, I can’t help but wonder if the majority of those polled (mostly young people) actually have an educated understanding of the core ideologies and political and cultural ramifications of socialism — particularly the radical progressive form of socialism supported by deranged lunatics like Bernie Sanders — and how socialism would ultimately affect their freedoms, their paychecks and their everyday lives. My guess is that they don’t have a clue. After all, most young people are too busy texting their friends, having sex or smoking legalized marijuana to even take ten minutes to research a candidate’s political beliefs and goals. I mean, we’re talking about the generation that barely has the patience to check their e-mail or wait 60 seconds for a Starbucks order. (Not to mention the generation that voted in overwhelming numbers for Barack Obama — the closest thing to a socialist dictator our nation has ever seen.)
Some people just don't get it. Like these folks:
Ah, these poor lost souls.
Now, I know most of you tend to shy away from my political posts. Politics is dry, boring and stupid. I get it. But, this is about more than politics. This is about your personal freedom, your money, your religious liberties, your job, your family and your way of life. A Sanders presidency would affect you on a level never before seen in American history. Ponder this:
Would you vote for a president whose economic policies will put the U.S. on the same path to bankruptcy as Greece? (Where citizens now have a limit on how much money they can withdraw from banks and ATMs.)
Would you vote for a president who wants to spend $1 trillion to rebuild roads and bridges and an additional $750 billion giving free college tuition to every American, while our nation is currently drowning in an $18 trillion debt?
Would you vote for a president whose income equality policies would put a McDonald’s burger-flipper working 20 hours per week on the same income level as the college-educated hospital nurse working 50 hours per week?
Would you vote for a president who supports a $15/hour minimum wage? (Here’s why this is a terrible idea.)
Would you vote for a president who openly advocates for socialistic wealth redistribution — taking money from America’s wealthy 1-percenters and funneling it down to the middle and poor class without the consent of the 1-percenters?
Would you support a president who voted “NO” on banning partial birth abortions except to save a mother’s life and “NO” on barring transporting minors to get an abortion? Would you vote for a president who will continue to ignore the slaughterhouses run by Planned Parenthood — where over 300,000 babies are murdered every year?
Would you vote for a president who wants to continue federal funding of declared sanctuary cities and rejects the idea of building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border in an effort to prevent illegal immigration?
Would you vote for a president who voted “No” on Constitutionally defining marriage as one-man-one-woman?
Would you vote for a president who will undoubtedly force churches to perform same-sex marriages?
I could go on and on, but you get the picture. It’s no wonder Sanders has shifted away from the Democratic Party and decided to run as an Independent. So many of his beliefs and political stances are even far left of Barack Obama — something I didn’t even really think was possible. Apparently I was wrong. Under Sanders, the United States would plummet into economic depression, cultural anarchy, political turmoil and deteriorate into a barren wasteland of poverty and hopelessness — all under the oppressive reign of a tyrannical, bloated and utterly-intrusive federal government. Call me cynical, but I just can’t get behind that sort of campaign.
You see, socialism simply doesn’t work. It’s failed time and time again in countless nations throughout history and around the world. It has far too many shortcomings, flaws and anti-freedom, anti-capitalism tenets. Socialism operates under the premise that if the government spreads enough money around (by stealing it from people without their consent), everyone will be happy and we can all live in some sort of fairytale utopia where there’s always a rainbow in the sky and everyone gets a pot of gold and a pet unicorn. But, in the process, socialism eradicates every form of freedom and liberty, replaces the traditional family with The State as the central unit in society and undermines timeless American values like hard work and personal success and replaces them with laziness and an entitlement mentality. This inevitably leads to a complete breakdown of morality and, subsequently, a total collapse of society. And when the dust settles, the only people left standing will be the government elites — like Obama, Biden, Kerry, Sanders, Hillary Clinton and all of their cronies — while lower and middle class citizens are reduced to submissive serfs and peasants.
I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t sound too appealing. You really don’t have to dig too deep to find examples of places where socialism has failed miserably: Greece, Sweden, Russia, Cuba, China. The list goes on and on.
It doesn’t work. It will never work. And it’s the very antithesis of everything America was designed to be.
I think former U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher said it best:
“The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.”
